The proportion of tourists who visited Turkey in the first half of 2019 increased by 13.2 % compared to the same period of 2018, as it received 18 million and 76,506 tourists.
According to a statement issued by The Turkish Statistics Authority and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, on Wednesday, Russian and German tourists were at top of the foreigners arriving in Turkey during the mentioned period.
The report added that the total revenues of inbound tourists to Turkey during the first half of this year amounted to 12 billion, 603 million and 642 thousand USD.
The report also stated that the average foreign tourist's spending during his stay in Turkey amounted to 469 USD.
Russian tourists topped the list of visitors to Turkey during the aforementioned period, as the statistics demonstrated that they reached 2 million 709 thousand and 397 tourists, registering an increase of 13.91 % compared to the same period in 2018.
The Germans followed the Russians with one million 802,365 tourists, and the Bulgarians third with one million 236 thousand and 280 visitors.
According to the data of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, last June, Turkey received 5 million, 318 thousand and 984 foreign tourists, an increase of 18.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
