Historical City of Troy in Turkey

The city of Troy, in Greek history and Truva in Turkish, is an ancient historical city located in northwestern Turkey,30 km away from Çanakkale district. The history of this city goes back to three thousand years BC, and was discovered by German businessman Heinrich Schillmann in 1870 AD. Troy city is one of the most important archaeological sites; As its extensive remains are the most significant demonstration of the first contact between the civilizations of Anatolia and the Mediterranean world. Furthermore, it was mentioned in the historical epic of the Iliad, written by the Greek historian Homer 2,700 years ago, and UNESCO listed it on the World Heritage List.
